Every year at Gardner Village they have a fantastic display of life-size witches and other fun Halloween decor at Witchfest. I've never been but I've always heard fun things about it, so when my mom called me yesterday morning and asked if I wanted to go and bring my littles, of course I said "yes!" So we got ready and were out the door in less than a hour - record time for me and my two head-strong children. It was so worth it, Norah had a blast! She's a pretty big fan of this Halloween holiday and all the fun surrounding it. I can't wait for trick-or-treating tonight, she's going to be in heaven.

Pumpkin Land
It's a family tradition to go to Pumpkin Land every October to pick out our pumpkins. We've been going since we were married - although Jason did think it was odd to do without children. But, he indulged me and we've loved the tradition! This year was the first year we paid to do the extra activities, the bounce house, corn maze and other random attractions. Norah loved it, and Clayton was (as always) just happy to be there! We invited my parents and Rylie and had a blast!

Homemade Playdough
With indoor weather upon us, I decided to do a fun activity with Norah and make homemade playdough. It was super easy and super fun. In fact, if Norah were in charge of "fun mom" awards, I would have totally won. Plus, we used letter cookie cutters so it was even educational. Bonus points for me!!
Homemade Playdough Recipe:
2 C Baking Soda (1 box)
1 C Cornstarch
1 1/2 C Water
Color - optional (we added a few drops of red paint to make pink)
Scent - optional (we added a few drops of lavender oil because we felt like it)
Add color and scent to water (optional). Combine baking soda and cornstarch in a pot. Add water and stir on medium heat until the dough forms a ball. Cool and knead.

The Zoo
Norah loves animals, so naturally we've been wanting to take her to the zoo. We knew our days of great weather were dwindling, and we were wanting to go on a Friday to avoid Saturday crowds. A few weeks ago I checked the Hogle Zoo calender and they had major events scheduled for the next few Fridays except that one, so we last minute packed the kids in the car and headed to Salt Lake. A grand time was had by all and I'm pretty excited to go back in 2014 when the African Savanna Exhibit opens.
