The final days of our annual pass

On a whim, Jason and I jumped in the car with my two sisters and drove to Disneyland to take advantage of the last days on our annual pass. 18 hours of driving for 16 hours of Disneyland is totally worth it. We met up with Jason's parents and sister Stacey, as well as my darling nieces Carys and Maddison. In honer of our great trip, enjoy the picture overload!

First things first, Carlie and Rylie had buy their tickets!

Naturally, we had to ride the Jungle Cruise. It's a classic.

We took pictures in our favorite picture spot, the stairs in New Orleans Square.

Sisters!

Not nearly as wet as usual after riding Splash Mountain.

Jumping for joy on the pier!

Photo-op by the fresh produce truck.

Playing with the water fountains

Rylie, Carys and Carlie ... tender!

My nieces are the cutest, don't you agree?

Princess Carys

Havin' fun on the slide (Don't worry Stacey, I'm mailing you a CD with all these pictures!)

Carys was such a good driver on Autopia!

Jason gets scared on the Tea Cups ..

Maybe it's those crazy looking girls next to us!

Spinning faster and faster

So long, farwell Disneyland!

My new dressers!

Jason and I couldn't have timed our wedding more perfectly. My parents were just moving out of their old house and needing to unload their old furniture, and we were just starting a life together and needing to obtain furniture. In all, we inherited two couches, two dressers, a bookshelf, a twin bed (for guests), an iron shelf thingy and a partridge in a pear tree. OK, not really on that last one. Anyway ...

A couple years back when I was moving out on my own and didn't have a piece of furniture to my name, my parents gave me their old whitewashed entertainment center which I promptly refinished into a dazzling red with dark stain. It's pretty. And since Jason and I decided we liked the dressers, but didn't love them, we put my rusty refinishing skills to work and (drum roll please)
Before:

Not bad, but nothing to write home about (as my mom always says)

After:

A delightful yellow (not the yellow I picked out, but we'll take it!) with a dark stain to give it the antiqued vintage look. Trust me, it's pretty.

We're (I'm) working on the other dresser right now. I may post pictures when I'm done, but it'll probably feel slightly redundant since they are going to be the same color.

Carlie's First Game

Carlie cheered at her first football game yesterday. They played Timpanogos and, well, when we left at half time the score was 21-0 ... and we were not winning. Oh well, right? You win some, you lose some. At least the cheerleaders were good!

When Jason and I got married, we received this cookbook as a gift and I use it all the time! I just posted two of my new favorite recipes on my cooking blog ... check it out!

Labor Day

We love love loved our wonderful little vacation this past weekend! We left our busy lives behind and escaped to the mountains of Fairview for three wonderful days of eating, sleeping, socializing with our nearest and dearest and lots of game playing. In case anyone is wondering, I'm pretty darn good at Settlers of Catan. Jason is better, but I'm still good.

The rising sun shines right in our bedroom window (and our eyes), so we were lucky (??) enough to be awake each morning to watch the the sun rise over the mountains.

Jason's parents and grandparents joined us this weekend and we spent some time checking out their ancestor paraphanelia at the Fairview museum.

Besides historic pictures, historic clothing and historic barber chairs ... the museum also has a historic wolley mamoth.

John Franklin Sanders home (in the background) and John's great great great grandson (Jason), great granddaugther (Grandma Pearl) and great great grandaughter (Cheryl).

On our way out we couldn't resist driving past our temple!

These are a few of my favorite ... people!

First off, Jason and I had a blast this weekend at my parents cabin, spending time with both sets of parents, my sisters and Jason's grandparents. I have a few pictures to share, later.

But now, here are a few of my favorite people - the Helsten family. Jason and I live in the parents basement and they asked me to take their family photos last week. Head on over to my photography blog to see the rest, but this was one of my favorite.
