Last Day

Today is my last day at work. I got laid off this past Thursday. Ad sales have been down, and with the rising cost of postage, paper, etc. the company has been making budget cuts everywhere. First, it was the cleaners ... now me. I've been working hard trying to get all the loose ends tied up so my co-workers won't have too rough of a time taking over my duties. I've been trying to not think about it, but tomorrow is going to be strange. To wake up and not go to work. To not carpool with Jason. To not take pictures for, write and coordinate the women in business profiles. To not answer customers subscription questions. To not laugh with my coworkers. It's all over, and I'm not sure I'm ready for it to end.

I know everything is going to be OK, and luckily Jason has a great job so it doesn't throw us into instant financial straights, but I would like to get a job eventually. I've had some great suggestions already (thanks Audrey!) but what are your thoughts? Anyone know of an amazing job available with great pay and benefits too? Or should I just pursue my photography business full-force?

Manti Temple

How beautiful is this temple? This is a picture I took this past weekend in Manti while taking pictures at Dennis and Amanda's sealing. More pictures to follow.

We love to see the temple!

Here are a few more pictures from our temple photo shoot. Words cannot express how much I love every single one of these girls. And Liza, even though she couldn't come.

10 loves

5.20.2008

1. All you dear readers who still check my blog even though since the death of my computer I have not updated it like I promised I would.
2. My calling as a Mia Maid advisor. I love each of my girls so much!
3. Looking for homes online. It's lame, but I get such a thrill imagining owning a home someday.
4. The warm weather! Last week we were still having to wear coats to work, now it's in the '90s. And about time too.
5. When I cook dinner. It's becoming more and more rare, but last night I made broccoli pie - YUM!
6. David Archuleta. Need I say more?
7. This blog: Mormon in Manhattan
8. Manti. I get to go down there this weekend to take pictures of this amazing family. So Jason and I are making a vacation out of it. Expect lots of pictures.
9. The smell of books. New and old. I just love it, it's so inviting.
10. How excited Jason was for National Treasure 2 to come to Redbox. He set his alarm for midnight so he could wake up and reserve it online. He slept in, but was still able to reserve it at 6 a.m.

Temple

Today is my turn to teach my wonderful Mia Maids. The lesson is on preparing to attend the temple, which I think is rather appropriate for this week since a it's my one-year anniversary of going through the temple.

For our mutual activity this past Thursday, the girls had the great idea to go to the temple and take pictures. We planned this activity a month ago, and none of us knew it would be falling on such an appropriate week! So for a hand out, I'm giving them their individual pictures in front of the temple, as well as a bookmark I made with the words to the primary song "I Love to See the Temple."

We're missing Eliza Stratton, but this is the rest of us! Photo by my amazing husband.

Male Model

If Jason's programing career ever falls through, I'm not too worried about it...

... I think he has a successful career as a male model ahead of him!

Careen's bridals

Last week I took some pictures of my friend Careen and her soon-to-be hubby Mark. This is one of my favorites, but I'll post more as soon as I finish editing the rest.

Also, I posted pictures of Rachael and Steve's wedding on my photography Web site, check it out!
