Busy

Busy busy busy, there never seems to be any downtime anymore. Photography has kept up a pretty steady pace during the winter, which is something I honestly did not anticipate. But I'm grateful that it has. Our schedule over the past few weeks has consisted of enjoying the company of Jason's parents in town, shooting a wedding in Oakland, Christmas at the cabin and now this weekend we're heading to Mesa. The days between those fun events have been full of shooting photos, editing photos, coaching cheer, traveling to and from basketball games with my cheerleaders and getting ready for Christmas. And guess what? Things do not seem to be slowing down after New Years! So this is our life right now, wonderfully busy and full of enjoyable activities. For now, know that we're doing well and loving life and that someday I'll have time to blog photos from all of our fun times.

Oh yeah, how cute are we? I stole this from my mother-in-law's blog. This is us outside our beautiful home the weekend Tom and Cheryl came to visit. And would you believe it, the snow in this picture is nothing compared to what we have going on right now.

In the meantime, check out my photo blog! I recently posted my 200th post and my first ever giveaway.

Cabin bound!

We're heading to the cabin tonight! Of course, only if I can get all the things done I need to get done in time. Such as:

Oil change
packing (both clothes to wear an all our Christmas gifts)
eating (I keep forgetting)
laundry
dishes
run to the bank
last minute Christmas shopping
last minute Christmas wrapping

And I only have three hours left to do it all. And here I am blogging instead. Procrastination is one of the things I'm pretty good at. In fact, if it were an Olympic sport ... that gold would be all mine. If your "to-do" list is daunting and you want to procrastinate too, please do so by viewing my photo blog and leaving me comment love. This lovely couple was featured today:

White

If I took a picture outside my window right now and posted it, it would look something like this:

And I'm loving it. For about half a second there I was afraid we weren't going to get snow for Christmas, but now it's snowing! I just pray that it keeps up and sticks around. Even if it does mean I have to leave my car parked at the bottom of the driveway in order to avoid death by slippage when I try to leave the house.

Jason and I just returned from a fantastic trip to Oakland/San Francisco. It was a work trip for this couple's wedding, but we were able to do a little site seeing. Unfortunately my hard drive is FULL and I can't upload any pictures until I make it less full, so this will be a picture-less post. But don't you worry, there will be pictures eventually and they will be fantastic and so worth the wait.

Merry Christmas!

I ordered really cute Christmas cards. The printing shop lost my order. They also forgot to tell me. This is why we're not sending out Christmas cards in the mail. Instead, we're blogging our less cute card.

2009 was a big year for the Evans Family! We finally, after an eternity of looking and making offers, purchased a home in Cedar Hills, UT. It's a charming 3 bed 3 bath home with plenty of room for guest (hint hint) so come visit!

Jason is in his fifth year of working at Quomation and was the proud recipient of the "Innovator of the Year" award. Along with the fancy title, he also received a blu ray player ... now if only we had a television to hook it up to!

Jessie and her business celebrated their one-year anniversary in August and couldn't be more proud. Business is booming and Jessie Alexis Photography will have weddings featured in not one, but TWO bridal magazines. Not too shabby for the first year :) She has also been filling in as a cheer coach for a near-by private school. While this started out as a temporary position, rumor has it the school wants to keep her on even after the regular coach comes back from maternity leave.

Together we enjoyed a cruise to the Mexican Riviera in October. We were lucky enough to be joined by Jason's parents and grandparents. We ate way too much food and had way too much fun. And as a result we're hoping to make it a yearly tradition!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Flashback Friday!

Hi. My name is Jessie and I'm a terrible blogger. Sorry.

OK, now that that's out of the way ... Flasback Friday! This past weekend we went to Jason's work Christmas party and someone at our table asked us how we met, and we got started talking about "our story" and all that fun stuff, and mentioned that it was that very Christmas party 4 Christmases ago that we re-kindled our romance. Someday I'm going to do like Pioneer Woman and write down our love story, if only for our posterity. For now, I'm just going to share a picture of that date!

December 9, 2006

Highlights of the date include:

1. Our second first kiss
2. Riding trax
3. The food (especially the mashed potatoes!)
4. Seeing the lights at Temple Square

Coming up next ... pictures from this year's Christmas party!

For what are you thankful?

This time of year, the topic of gratitude seems to surround, and rightfully so. Jason and I have so many things to be thankful for. His stead job, our beautiful home, our good health and wonderful families. This year, we are celebrating Thanksgiving at my parents cabin with my family. I'm looking forward to stuffing my face with good food and then relaxing and playing games. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been on a roll putting together these fantastic videos, and this one especially made my heart glad. Watch this video, then tell me, for what are you thankful?

One year older and wiser too!

Happy 27th birthday, Jason!

Jason is the kindest, sweetest most caring guy I've ever met. He's such a great husband and super attentive my needs. He's funny, impulsive and life with him is so exciting. Happy birthday baby, I love you so much!

Flashback Friday!

In 2007 Jason and I picked our pumpkins out at the pumpkin patch in Orem. It was fun and I loved it and wanted to make it a tradition. I don't remember what happened in 2008 but this year we found a "pumpkin patch" near our house that we went to instead and it was abysmal. So next year, the tradition of the Orem pumpkin patch will be brought back. Because look how much fun we had!

***I'm not promising that this flashback Friday will be a regular feature, but it's my blog and I can do (and not do) special features whenever I want.

The cruise as seen by our point-and-shoot

AT LAND

Cabo Cabo Cabo
Daddy, we want a house in Cabo!!

Lounging on the beach with a virgin pina colada is just about the best thing in the world

Even my hot husband agrees

But parasailing is a close second!

The view from way up in the air was incredible

Lover's Beach and Land's End rock formations

Not our boat, but the Carnival cruise ship.

Way high in the sky parasailing together

Our feet and the shadow of our parasail

I was way too freaked out that I'd drop the camera, so I made Jason hold it, hence the multiple pictures of just me and none of just him.

My hair is pretty rad in the Mexican humidity. Not.

Tom took to the open skies as well, and loved it!

This one's our ship, the Mariner of the Seas.

My cute mother-in-law and her mother. You'd be hard pressed to find someone sweeter than these two.

Yay for self-portraits!

And, us in front of the dining room sign. The dining room is possibly my favorite place on the ship.

The ladies with Cruise Director Dave (that I may or may not have made an appearance in my dream last night. Weird.)

Formal Night numero dose.

Bon Voyage! Us leaving LA for Mexico.
